Saw your post to Bill. Just as an aside, I thought the Clinton administration's appointment of Hormel to be Ambassador of Belgium was just plain wrong. No judgment here. To appoint an openly acknowledged homosexual to be Ambassador to a country where the population is over 95% traditional Catholics just seems like a slap in the face and damn arrogant. I can see this as a case where a candidate's avowed sexual proclivity should distinguish him from another. This is aside from a debate over whether the Belgians are right, wrong or sideways on the issue of sexual orientation. It just does not make sense from the standpoint of diplomacy to send a person whose sexual orientation most of the country would find offensive as a practical matter. How is this likely to improve relations or communications between the countries? JLA

And enough with the self righteous BS, I can and will answer every question posed. But I prefer to deal with one issue at a time. The current issue is your refusal to believe the written word and your ludricrous attempt to put words into the candidate's mouth. Obviously if there is no direct quote on what he said, the only thing we're left with is the author's "impression." The impression this author got was that W. didn't want sex activities to influence legislation in his administration.
