At some point, your heirs start retaining attorneys. Generally, it's a good idea to hold 20% back to defend the SUNW shares from some kind of Spanish Inquisition.

However I think McNealy goes a little overboard with the MSFT thing! Any opinions on this? Alok good to see you back!

This is just nuts. In fact, I think Scotty should say what's *REALLY* on his mind.

In any case, Bill Gates should have stayed in school.

Dear chunmun: I would NEVER advise moving ones ENTIRE portfolio into ONE stock no matter HOW great it appears. Especially in the TECH field where one invention and you are out.
I understand McNeally started off his Comdex speech with, "Anyone hear any good Monopolists jokes lately" (this after Gates started his off with anyone hear any good lawyers jokes lately). You gotta admire a guy with the balls to start out in public that way. haha. Course, if you are BG you may have a different opinion. JDN

Dear chunmun,

>Well, I moved my whole portfolio into SUNW about 2 weeks ago... Hope I did the right thing.

The later part makes me think that you yourself are not sure if you did the right thing and are somewhat uncomfortable about your move into a SUNW-only portfolio. If _you_ are uncomfortable it does not matter if people here [who are themselves diversified] pat you on the back for your decision to only be in SUNW. SUNW has done well since you moved all you assets into it so now is a good time to change your mind and diversify again.

On another thread I read and occasionally post to, one person is held up as some kind of genius for having everything invested in that stock. On another thread where that stock and some others are discussed, people who question the wisdom of that person being totally invested in one thing are blasted. I remain silent although in my mind, there is a big difference between "investing" and "gambling."

Sure, SUNW is an excellent company. Yes, I do think SUNW has a great future. It is not, however, the only great company that has the potential for one very rosy future.

Please talk to someone in the real world who has a lot of investing experience. If you do not know someone personally, you can always go to one of the major investment houses and ask to interview someone with the intent of getting a broker. Ask to speak with someone who shares your interest in technology. You do not then have to commit to getting that person as a broker.

Except for a few people here at SI, I think you will have a hard time finding someone who thinks it wise to be totally invested in one stock .

My major position is in SUNW and I do not worry because I've followed the company for many, many years. And yes, I've been with it during the down periods which can last for a very long time.

I would listen to Lynn. I would diversify. Certainly, I would consider CSCO and EMC on any pull backs.

I am a housewife. I am not a professional investor.

Welcome to the Sun thread!!!!!! :)

Best wishes,

Mephisto
