JHG,

My thinking about the analyst might not be in the mainstream but I don't think it's particularly strange. I don't think I can clarify my thinking other than to repeat what I wrote in my earlier post:

The analyst sez that his optimism is based on the huge increase in ASP partners as if he hasn't paid any attention to the fact that company officers don't expect meaningful ASP revenue until 2001.

I should add that the stuff I read indicated that the analyst talked to only one manager. Whether or not that's true, I don't know. But it's all I've got to go on.

I didn't suggest that the company should talk its own stock down. Instead, I tried to say that the company's management needs to maintain a large degree of credibility. Loss of credibility is damage. By making some reasonably strong statements about the unproven nature of the ASP market, I think management did some damage control by attempting to limit a loss of credibility.

Just my opinion.

P.S. Is there a chance I could talk you into using your upper-case letters with less frequency?
