THE DISMAL QUARTER:

A very simple comparison of this quarter versus the same
quarter last year is:

SALES plus 5.26%
COST OF SALES plus 13.7%
GROSS MARGIN(dollars) unchanged

SELLING COSTS plus 15.4%
R & D COSTS plus 11.4%

INCOME FROM OPS minus 78.9%

ACCTS RECEIVABLE plus 24.7%
INVENTORY plus 65.4%
ACQUIRED INTANGIBLES plus 531.2%

These are not just disappointing figures, they are
straight NASTY figures and seem to suggest a failure, not
only of Sales Management, but also financial control.

Those of you who are closer to the Newbridge reality,
could you comment?

Best wishes,

Jim
