Your local BELL will be happy to provide you DSL for about $40 a month (somthing like 256k).

Actually, Richie, for $40.00/month Bell Atlantic DSL says it will deliver about 600-700 kilobits/sec. I have a higher level of Bell Atlantic DSL service, which Bell Atlantic says should deliver 1.2 megabits/sec. There is another lever of Bell Atlantic DSL service, which is still more expensive, which they say should deliver 7.1 megabits/sec. I don't think cable modem can match any of those speeds in a heavily populated area like, say, NYC, where degradation is a real problem.

Regards.
