bell DSL pricing and speeds for NY

bell-atl.com
bellatlantic.com

Okay price for the "up to" 640kbps of 49.95, but still 25% more expensive than cable with much higher "up to" speeds.

I don't think cable modem can match any of those speeds in a heavily populated area like, say, NYC, where degradation is a real problem

You've missed something about DSL that most people don't seem to realize... you share your DSL with others as well. You just do it at the plant. The more people signed up on DSL, the slower your speed. A real problem in high density areas.

I share my cable outside the plant. The effects are the same. The more people online, the slower both our services. The difference is, the less people online, the much faster my service. (my "up to" speed so far has been 2.4 Mbps)

Regards
Jay
