Would Bush cut MS antitrust slack? zdnet.com

Maybe, maybe not, says this article, on the preferred remedy of Microphiles everywhere.

"I question if Bush would be able to stop the clock on these suits," Siegal said. "It depends on what happens between now and election day in the courts."

Both cases may not be resolved until a new president is sworn in. By then, a lot could happen. In fact, Microsoft and tobacco firms may seek out-of-court settlements. But they may delay if they think they could cut a better deal with Bush.

Appearing on WMUR-TV in Manchester, N.H., on Nov. 10, Bush was asked about the possibility that Microsoft could catch a break in the court if he was president.

"People shouldn't lay back and expect a Bush administration to interfere," he replied.

Cheers, Dan.
