Maybe so, TD. I don't know all the details of the case. However I do know that in all the years I have been a mgr, I have run across maybe 3 gay people that were open about it and either worked for me or were in direct contact with me. Other than the offense that some might take with someone who is openly gay (I personally don't care), there was no disruption or difference whatsoever with their work schedule or output as an employee vs. anybody else.

Otoh, somebody pregnant, or someone with small kids (a father or mother) is much less able to deliver on agressive work schedules, no doubt about it. They have to leave at 5 to "pick up the kids" - people with no kids stay till 8. Pregnant women are the absolute worst because they take up a headcount and yet are not there! And if they do come back they aren't 100% there with a newborn at home. This is a major disruption to the workforce and you can't do anything about it.
