SHG --

Fine, I see your points about convenience. But will a market emerge (a la Amazon) that's willing to buy furniture sight unseen (unless you count the JPEGs... which I don't), without sitting in it and trying it (in the case of chairs, couches, and beds...), and with a very problematic returns process for standard items and no returns recourse in the case of custom-ordered merchandise? I can't see many people doing that. Lamps? OK. Dining room tables? Doubtful. Recliners and beds? Hard to believe... I'm willing to be wrong, but this ain't books, CDs, or expensive commodoties like PCs. It's highly differentiated stuff and much of it custom-made...

I agree about furniture.com. I am moving to another state and have been looking for furniture sites on the web so I can have the pieces shipped directly to my new home. I think it's a great idea.
