<<Zead, the more knowledgable people here will probably
respond soon. Until then, would you mind giving a few
details? Did you install Windows 95 over Windows 98?
If yes, that could be the problem: installing an older
version over a newer one.>>

You guys have been helpful.

Came home after being away for 3 days and my emachine is making an annoying noise. I imagine it's the fan- sounds like a rusty fan. A similar thing happened once before on my old computer but seemed to fix itself. Makes me wish I had bought a computer from one of the many Chinese computer places around that have lifetime warranties for labor on their systems. Damn emachine is only 9 months old.

Am I all right letting it make the noise, or should I spend the bucks and take it in for service and prevent a melt-down?

Also, you think RAM prices will go down in the next couple months?
TIA.
