the article says nothing more than the Barron's article of last week. These are just rumors, which I seriously doubt will come true any time soon. 3Com stockholders are much better off if 3Com is not acquired by anybody, at least until it distributes Palm to its stockholders. 3Com's move is primarily due to the realization of the value of Palm, and secondarily due to the acknowledgement of its fine financial condition and its prospects in the networking business.

There were a couple of events last week that served to focus investor interest in Palm: the Sony agreement, and COMDEX. Coupled with the Microsoft ruling the week before and the Nokia agreement, these events were enough to shift the spotlight on 3Com. And we all know what happens in today's market when the spotlight shines on a company.
