While awaiting your response, I checked their 10-Q, and it does say that they received royalties for licensing their patents and that they also cross-license some patents. So I think that it is unclear to what extent they receive royalties from competing flash memory producers.

Assuming they do not, however, why would they agree to royalty free license agreements? Now they have to compete against world class manufacturers using their own technology. I'm not sure I understand the reasoning process. Also, if they receive no royalties, what gives SNDK any tactical or business advantage in the flash market going forward, and why should we not consider them just another commodity producer?
