I don't like the public opinion here in Germany regarding the deal.
Headlines at the front pages of weekends newspapers look way too agressive for me. One says: "Mannesmann steht wie ein Fels. Briten holen sich eine blutige Nase." (translation: Mannesmann stands like a rock. Brits are getting a bloody nose.)
Another says: "Schlacht um Mannesmann." (means: Battle for Mannesmann.)
Public opinion is absolute against VOD, politicans (like chancellor Mr. Schroeder) are declaring that a merger is against public interest. My personal opinion is that VOD has only a 10 % to get this deal done. I hold on to my Mannesmann shares, but I gonnna sell them into the next rally (I'm looking for 220 EUR a share).

Regards

Kai

P.S.: I think that nationalistic opinions and emotions should not intervene in business transactions. VOD is a fine company and has my sympathy and from a realistic standpoint this combination would make sense!
