GraphOn Bridges to be Integrated with Corel's Linux to Speed Migration from Windows Desktop November 22, 1999 09:08 AM CAMPBELL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 22, 1999--Today GraphOn Corporation GOJO announced that Corel Corporation will use GraphOn's Bridges(TM) software to allow access to Windows applications from Corel's(R) Linux desktops. Bridges allows virtually any display device to access any Windows, UNIX, and Linux applications over the Internet, dial-up, and any other type of connection. Both Bridges and Corel's Linux operating system debuted November 15 at COMDEX/Fall 1999. "Although Corel is making Linux on the desktop a reality, the need to run Windows applications still exists today," said Dr. Michael Cowpland, President and CEO of Corel. "By using GraphOn's Bridges we're able to address this issue and help our users facilitate and speed the migration of Linux to the corporate desktop. In addition, Bridges allows our users to run Corel applications on thin client devices." "GraphOn believes Corel's Linux is a strong alternative desktop operating system," said GraphOn CEO and President Walt Keller. "We're excited that Corel has chosen GraphOn's Bridges to give users of their award-winning Linux the flexibility to run Windows applications on their desktops." GraphOn Bridges web-enables Windows applications without requiring the Microsoft Terminal Server license since GraphOn technology only deals with the application, not the Windows NT kernel, thereby providing additional cost savings to independent software vendors (ISVs), application service providers (ASPs), and enterprise IT managers. Corel's Linux with GraphOn's Bridges is scheduled for release next year. About GraphOn GraphOn develops and markets thin, server-based software to speed, centralize and simplify enterprise computing and enable efficient network deployment of applications to a wide variety of devices and platforms. GraphOn products will be unified under the Bridges name and include the components UNIXBridge and LinuxBridge, formerly the GlobalHost Universal X Server of GO-Global, first thin client X server for Windows PCs, GO-Joe, the first thin client X server for Java-enabled desktops (including web browsers), and GO-Between, the first thin client X server for multi-user NT (such as Microsoft Terminal Server and Citrix WinFrame). Also being added to Bridges is WinBridge, formerly codenamed jBridge, which enables deployment of 32-bit Windows applications over the Internet and is scheduled for general release late 1999. Fully functional demos of GraphOn's products are available from the company's web site at graphon.com .
