Thanks for the nice note...

I will keep a close eye on the "gem" and eventually get in when my comfort level rises.

Thx for the info

Take care
Jean

>> It took years for remote controlled TVs to become entrenched <<

I purchased one of the first VCR models to have a remote. It was a wired remote, meaning a wire ran from the VCR to the remote control. (Wireless remotes came out a few years later.) The remote control let me change the TV channels. Most people who saw this early remote thought it was a silly idea (who could possibly be too lazy to get up to change the TV channel). Most also thought the VCR itself was a pretty useless item (why would anyone want to tape a TV show).

An interactive programming guide does not seem like that big of a deal now. Maybe it's not. We'll see.

I'm doing my little bit to encourage "brand knowledge".
I just bought a new VCR with Gemstar VCR plus inside : Costco had 4 VCR's and 3 had VCR plus.
Whenever I show a movie I announce to my friends: you are seeing this movie on my new VCR with GEMSTAR's VCR plus inside.
When I tape I announce to my co workers "At home while I attend this party I am taping Hallmark playhouse to show at school with my new GEMSTAR VCR plus."
Etc etc and so forth.
Have to protect my 1500 shares bought from 69 all the way to 98.
