Why would IBM take a 30% stake in Dell?

For the sake of argument, say:

1. IBM thinks Dell is a good investment at these prices (they agree with most people on this thread).
2. IBM plans to out source it's all it's PC and Intel based server fulfillment to Dell, and knows the value of that business at Dell's cost basis.

Would it make sense for IBM to take a stake?

John

Patrick,
Hi!!!
RE: P.S. Was there a shooter on the grassy knoll? Can you explain the magic bullet to me? Why won't you answer these and all the other questions about this?

Perhaps there were many....Could have been a jealous husband for all I know...
The magic bullet? Was that the silver bullet? Could possibly be the Lone Ranger or was it the bullet that killed Michael Langdon in his acting debut..."I Was a Teenage Werewolf"...
No Patrick....I surely won't ever profess to know all the answers...I just happen to live in the middle of IBM territory and they keep punching me...Dreaming of why is always fun...and, if it comes true...very very very profitable...

Best, Kemble
