Yes, I agree. I think all this "government saving me from myself" stuff is just a bunch of bullshit. What are we supposed to have, a government approved list of stocks we may buy. Besides, stocks aren't the only way a person can lose a bunch of money. What about starting a small business. Something like 80% of them fail in the first two years...and, of course, we all know that when an upstart new business fails, the benevolent banks just wave the loans and call it even <VBG>. So should the government also define the types of new businesses people can open.

Maybe something like this...

Entrepreneur: "I'm planning to open a building business."

Government Agent: <hand on chin, shaking his head> "I very sorry Mr. Smith, but our records show that too many new building businesses have been failing and we simply cannot allow you to do this."

Entrepreneur: "But it's always been my dream to be in business for myself."

Government Agent: <smiling fatherly and nodding his head> "I understand. How about a tax consulting business. I can allow you to open that kind of business. Our records show that these types of businesses require less risk capital and have a higher chance of success than construction."

Entrepreneur: "But I hate accounting and I barf at the thought of taxes."

Government Agent: <sighing deeply and shaking head> "I'm sorry, Mr. Smith. There's nothing else I can do. Have you ever thought about a career in Civil Service?"
