While SDLI may be purchased, I do not think JDSU would be allowed to do it by the SEC. This would make them virtually the only source of lasers for telecommunications. wj

SDLI not the only (laser) fish in the sea...

so a purchase of SDL by JDSU would be allowed by SEC, but on the other hand, it is not likely to be accepted nicely...read hostile takeover, if I know Don Scifres and company...more likely a merger of SDL with ETEK...or Corning or Alcatel coming courting...that might be accepted by SDL...or maybe Corning / Alcatel versus JDSU...that would also be possible (white versus black knight)... or most likely of all, just general (optics) sector run-up and luck...
