The WinCE OS can be preloaded in SyncFlash memory resulting in a cost efficient, high performance system.

That's not quite what we were talking about (or at least I was talking about). What Micron is saying is that, instead of copying the WinCE OS code section (the part that does not change during operation) from ROM/Flash to SDRAM (a.k.a. "shadowing" the ROM to improve performance), as is done now, they'll just run the OS right from the Flash. That suggests their read speed is good (and WinCE devices aren't pushing the envelope of read speeds anyway), thus cutting out the cost of unneeded SDRAM to store the OS during operation. Critical here is that the Flash is not getting written often--just read.

Our previous discussion was replacing all memory with Flash, which is a whole other story involving lots of writing.
