As usual, your staunch defense of a monopolist is incorrect.
Sun license Java cheaply (even to that Evil $ill $ates $ompany), like free, and on a far more broad basis than the Evil $illion $illy-$oy, who as usual, tried to kill off Java and was caught doing so. What they do charge an arm and a leg for is Solaris, their O/S (based on AT&T's UNIX, that was given away) for their servers and workstations. They also will support Microsoft NT on their servers and workstations, if that is what the customer wants. Why support that buggy crap, but they do. They compete freely and willingly with a host of companies in the hardware side and other server UNIX deratives, without trying to use unscruplous practices.

Having said that, they are also freely accepting and supporting Linux on their machines and their recent purchase of Starwave Office package software is available for Linux, Windows and other O/S's, oddly enough, free if downloaded or for a very reasonable price on CD.

Give it up Maurice, Microsoft was tried in a fair environment and failed miserably and arrogantly in that process to prove their case. They not only manage to not help prove their case, but on a number of times pissed the judge enough for him to storm out of his own courtroom in total disgust becasue of their arrogant testimony. Ask JGoren what will happen when you piss the judge off. It a shame that you choose not to follow the proceeding in an unbaised manner or you might be be singing a different tune.

As they say, you are now free to choose, from a couple of different sources of operation of a PC or Mac. Innovation is being accelerated and the face of computing will benefit because of that "protected" competition, as opposed to past practices, which if not abated, we would not have the choice and innovation, which isn't a word that Microsoft has learned very well.

BTW, I saw a breakup value in Fortune Mag this morning on MSFT and it will add over $100 Billion to the companies market cap. I don't agree with that summation, but it will prove, if that is the settlement, to benefit shareholders, $illy-$oy and his favorite charity, his own.

It is rather ironic that you as a QCOM stockholder, benefit from the very government and it's agencies that have helped you become very rich. Rather amazing that you only want what is good for your pocket and then become so vitrolic against what you deem interfence. As they say in this country Maurice, it may not be the best system of justice, but it is better than most. I'm glad they went after Mr. $oftie, my RHAT is over 200 because of it. RAH_RAH_RAH GOOOOOOOOOO JUSTICE!!!!!!!!!!! Just so we all know one of the reasons I'm glad Justice is doing what it is doing, among others, as I don't like bullies and arrogance.

Damn it's cold and I can't wait for tomorrow to get away from this nonsense. Leave the NorthEast to return to more cold....

Mq, I remember why back that you where talking about a set-up for cell that used handsets as cell sites, with each handset passing off to the other. I wonder if CSCO could get around the small fact that they have to build out the VOFDM infra. before people can waltz down to Best Buy and buy the Pizza dishes. Why not do what you where talking about with VOFDM? I could see tri antenna's on the top of houses, pointing in three directions. LOL
