I love these guy's. Received this e-mail last night. This type of candor and cold self appraisal is very rare in a company and proves the kind of stand up people they are at TRAC. ********************************************************************* What was the Problem? --------------------- The myTrade interface was extremely slow at times. We prioritized requests by type, giving executions and cancellations the highest priority. However, this did not relieve the long delays for other types of request like account summary, positions, open orders, etc. I thought you were running at 30%? ---------------------------------- Yes, we were (and still are) running at 30% of CPU utilization and 30% of available bandwidth, but these problems had to do with a different system resource. We were constrained by our SQL database. Bottlenecks were forming which caused the long delays. How did you fix it? ------------------- We fixed it last night by moving the Contest database to a separate stand-alone server. This had a dramatic effect on the "production" database. Today, there were no delays and members were reporting a 1 second turn around from placing an order to receiving a notice of execution. Why didn't someone think of this before? ---------------------------------------- We did, but we needed to wait for the 4.0 myTrack release before we could implement this change. Is it going to go bad again ? --------------------------------- We don't think so. We went from 2,000 trades a day to 4,000 trades a day in just four (4) weeks. We feel comfortable in our ability to handle 6,000 trades a day without any problems. We're now planning the architecture needed for 6-10k. At the rate we're growing, we may need it sooner than later. Are there any open issues? -------------------------- We're still not happy with the phone system and level of staffing. We're hiring more support staff and expanding the phone system. We thank you for your patience and understanding. When we started the OLB business, we started slow. We were not prepared for this sudden spurt. We're getting there.
