<The CD-RW does not have the capacity to perform such a back up and, again, is way too slow!>

My point was this......As I understand it, a "standard" CD-RW disk is only capable of storing 650 Mb, and when formatted to be re-writeable will only store somewhat less than 500 Mb!

I have purposely sized my "C" hard drive partition to just over 1 Gb so my Jaz disk (which I "overwrite" every week when backing up my "C" partition) will, indeed, store all the data bit-by-bit in one contiguous image file created by Drive Image. The latest version of Drive Image does allow for "spanning" Jaz disks when creating an image file but I don't have the need to do so.

CD-RW disks simply cannot store 1 Gb of data so I have no use for them.

In regards to "recovering" from a hard drive crash, I've learned from hard, bitter experience that if my hard drive crashes I don't need to address my CD-ROM drive at all! All I have to do is:

1. Install a new hard drive.

2. Boot to a Drive Image recovery (floppy) disk which has drivers for my Jaz drive.

3. Load the Jaz drivers (in the DOS mode).

4. Run Drive Image from the recovery disk (while still in the DOS mode)...restoring the image file from my Jaz disk to the new hard drive without having to format the new hard drive or having to use FDISK to create a partition (the restored image file becomes the "C" partition upon bootup).

From all your technical rantings, it is conclusive.
