Badkarma,

Christianity is based on "faith"; faith in the "facts" presented in the gospels and subsequent books of the bible. When you consider how readily people will agree with the history of say a Caeser, then why not the history of Christ? There is much more historical evidence of Christ than there is of Caeser and yet most would not question the veracity concerning him. You stated, "But since your religion is a matter of faith and not cold hard fact, then how can you write them off?"

2 Peter 1:16 says the following: For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were EYEWITNESSES of his majesty.

Peter's statement is fact! Why would someone of Peter's stature risk his life and be willing to die for something HE KNEW to be a lie? That doesn't make any sense. He may of had a big mouth at times, but Peter was a passionate and honest man.

I "write...off" others religions, as you put it, because one can not exceed "truth". Jesus is TRUTH. He said it. I believe it, but more importantly, He backed up his claims. History records non believers saying such things as "never a man spoke like this man" and the religious detractors saying, "What shall we do to these men?(speaking of Peter and John) for that indeed a notable miracle has been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and WE CANNOT DENY it." Read again for yourself the book of John. Up to this day, I am amazed at how incredible this one book is. See chapter 9 for instance about objective thinking. You will not find such straightforwardness in many, if any, of your other religions. In general, only the "positive" is highlighted. The bible says it like it really is: pimples and all.

Unfortunately, some truths are somewhat obscured because of man's input. An example are "christian" sects that stubbornly stick to their own doctrine instead of the doctrine of Christ. However, this still does not detract from the person of Jesus, nor the truth that He alone represents.

One fact that needs to be addressed i.e. the sin issue. Although religion may somewhat address it, only Jesus addressed it in such a way that one would recognize his hopeless and helpless state. With that, He also gave the cure: Himself. That Badkarma, is the truth. It's not a matter of being narrow minded. There are far greater minds than myself who have recognized the Redemption Plan. Truth will always prevail. Don't be misguided by what passes as christianity today. It may not always represent Jesus.

Sorry for the long reply. I am not against any particular religion. However, I've yet to find any that measures up to real christianity. Nor do I feel a need to. Perhaps you should look back and see what it was in your own life that made you think Christ was not enough. "We are COMPLETE in Him." One can not go beyond completeness, can he? My search ended. Why embark on another journey when my "joy" has been made complete? As Paul said, "Oh that I might know Him!" Christ has truly given me rest. Mathew 11:28-30.

One last thing: Usually people "leave" the christian walk because there is an area in their lives that they will not yield to God. I'm not saying this is your situation. I am saying that to be a real christian, in order to find and stay on the path of truth, "surrender" to God and Him alone, is the way to achieve. The more one surrenders, (not to a person, not to himself, not to a religion, not to the unknown) the more he will recognize God's purpose for his life and that what is written in the bible is indeed fact.
