IBD on Friday November 26,1999 (page A20) : Qualcomm, for example,soared 183 points, or 82%, from early October to mid-November. In the last week and a half, it's given back less than 10% on a constructive pullback in volume. That has left its chart is known as a "flag" formation-a poentially explosive (but also risky) base from which to launch another move up. On Wednesday, Qualcomm added 15 1/6 at 375 5/16. Other winners that have formed high, tight flags include Gateway, Commerce One, Interleaf, and Tanning Technology. Purchasepro.Com broke out of a flag formatiom this week and has raced up 34 points, or 30%, in three sessions.

Jim, Back to business. Q* is back on track to reach a new closing high, the high of 406 posted on 11/15 was an interday high that gets the record but its the close of the day that is more significent. Q* closed that day @ 368 -10. The high close of 378 hit the tape previously on 11/12 so the last price on Wed of 375 5/16 is very close to a new high. Looking at the extremes skews the data.
