Home Ventures continues exploration on Buck Lake Home Ventures Ltd HMV Shares issued 13,835,016 1999-11-19 close $0.05 Wednesday Nov 24 1999 Home Ventures is continuing its preliminary exploration on the Buck Lake platinum/palladium property north of Thunder Bay, Ont. The Buck Lake property is approximately 25 kilometres east of the Lac Des Iles platinum/palladium gold mine. The Buck Lake property area is underlain by Archean mafic and ultramafic intrusive rock similar in composition to those which host the Lac Des Iles mine. The Buck Lake and Lac Des Iles intrusions are believed to be part of a series of Archean mafic to ultramafic intrusions which form a circular structure approximately 30 kilometres in diameter which are known to contain platinum group mineralization. Surface exploration to date on the Buck Lake property has indicated that the property mineralization is similar to that found at the Lac Des Iles mine. Work to date has concentrated on a platinum/palladium/gold/copper/nickel showing in the north-central portion of the property known as the Buck Lake showing. The current owners obtained grab samples from the Buck Lake showing with values up to 2.933 grams per tonne Pd, 2.030 grams per tonne Pt, 0.316 of a gram per tonne Au, 0.25 per cent Cu and 0.33 per cent Ni reported. This led to the drilling of eight holes totalling 9.0 metres using a small packsack diamond drill. The drill core was assayed and the reported assay values returned up to 1.900 grams per tonne Pd, 1.350 grams per tonne Pt, 0.276 grams per tonne Au, 0.57 per cent Cu and 0.52 per cent Ni in a 0.10-metre sample of core. A recently obtained ground magnetic survey shows a large magnetic high trending in a northwest-southeast direction and measuring approximately 450 metres in length by 100 metres to 225 metres in width and remaining open to the southeast as survey coverage did not extend far enough to obtain closure. The Buck Lake showing occurs in the southeast portion of this magnetic high, indicating that the favourable mineralization may extend in excess of 450 metres along strike. Recent geochemical work consisted of eight grab samples taken from shallow blast pits located in the immediate area of the Buck Lake showing. The samples were brecciated hornblende gabbro which typically contained 1 per cent to 2 per cent chalcopyrite and 1 per cent to 2 per cent pyrite. The samples were sent to Chemex Labs for standard fire assay and results are summarized in the following table: Pt+Pd Sample Pt Pd Au +Au Ni Cu No. g/t g/t g/t % % % 546601 1.395 1.490 0.346 3.231 0.318 0.296 546602 0.980 1.450 0.162 2.592 0.420 0.426 546603 1.815 2.150 0.512 4.477 0.446 0.431 546604 1.605 1.685 0.258 3.548 0.333 0.367 546605 1.080 1.680 0.188 2.948 0.400 0.518 546606 1.210 2.030 0.266 3.506 0.576 0.519 546607 0.855 1.190 0.170 2.215 0.258 0.245 546608 0.980 1.660 0.124 2.764 0.218 0.333 Home Ventures is reviewing the possibility of the joint venture exploration and development of the Buck Lake property and has begun discussions with several interested partners.
