Heard of a bear market?

Hi Diamond Jim,

Yeah, I've heard of a bear market, and I don't believe anything is a sure bet. But I am betting that the bull will continue as so many others have predicted. The largest population cohort in America is moving online and investing for themselves. This is also happening globally. I think ETrade will continue to grow, and that more people will come online and invest in stocks. I also think that if ETrade eventually offers "free" trades, they will make the money somewhere else. Heck, with Ameritrade you can have 2 "free" plane tickets just for opening an account, if you want to pay through the nose for some fancy-schmancy hotel. Sounds like snakeoil to me! Actually, the one thing I do know about bear markets, as evidenced by history, is eventually they give way to growth and expansion. Like the universe, and all life in it - bet on the goodness of growth is what I say :)

Hey, here's my favorite joke, and it's a fine one for impatient investors, like myself this week, who want everything to bear fruit immediately:

A man decides one day to visit his friend, who happens to be a pig farmer. When he gets to the farm the farmer's wife tells him that her husband is out feeding his prize pig.

The man finds his friend standing in a beautiful apple orchard, holding up a truly magnificent pig in his arms just so the happy creature can eat the sweet apples directly off the lower branches.

The man is deeply moved by this sight, but also puzzled. "This is all very well", he says to his friend, "but doesn't it take an awfully long time to feed a pig this way?"

The farmer smiles simply, and says "Time, what's time to a pig?"

Not getting quotes is one thing but how about confirmation that my trade went through?

this too seems to be too much to expect from ecrap.

I can get real time quotes anywhere, no one else can tell me my trade was executed at eturd but eturd.

I have checked, open orders, trading history, and of course no alert has popped up.

"Have you heard of a bear market?"

Gee, no, what's a bear market, Diamond Jim?

"EGRP is not a sure bet."

No shit?? I thought that if I bought this stock there was a guarantee that it would skyrocket. No guarantee--what's up with that???

Diamond Jim: one thing I don't understand (other than bear markets...), why do you stay with "eturd" if their service is so bad? Don't torture yourself, big guy. www.ameritrade.com

enjoy...
