hi gottfried,

the cable i have is one-way... fast downstream, 56k analog up. it's all that's available in my neck of the woods. i love it though. the cost is outrageously cheap. i had to subscribe to their isp and then pay an extra $8 per month to the cable TV company. installation was free when i signed up (as i special promo) and since there was a three week wait for install, i asked them if i could install myself. they provided all the cables, the analog modem, the ethernet card and the cable modem. all i did was sign something saying i'd owe them some money if i failed to return the equipment. they're now charging $50-$100 for install. i very rarely experience saturation that you hear about at peak times. i couldn't tell you what my download speeds are, other than they are fast. <g3> i just don't check it, i guess. i downloaded netscape communicator4.7 onto my new dell (i haven't hooked it up to cm yet) and it took 1 1/2 hrs. that'd be about 10-15 min. max with cm. it's never been down that i am aware of. i am looking forward to networking both pc's together for the shared cm access. if you have cm available in your area and you're debating whether it's worth it or not, i say you'll never regret it. unless there are rinky dink cm companies out there that screw folks. i'm just pleased, even with the one-way cm.

:)
