I have been taken to task by Poet in my response to sndiego. Poet objects to my characterization of the events of 11/7 as being a revolt lead by her. In re-reading her post, I must agree that in that post she was not enscouraging women to leave this thread, but encouraging more to join in. In fact, Poet has continued to post regularly here, for which I am grateful.

I apologize to Poet for inaccurately representing the character of her post. My mistake was not intentional:

EDIT:
I am totally frustrated with this entire discussion and my inability to contribute anything positive to it. I will completely refrain from commenting, contributing or otherwise participating on this matter here or on any other thread.

If anyone has any issues with my posts, I encourage you to let me know. I will not dodge criticism for my actions, but I will no longer participate in the actions of others, when it comes to this subject.

<I regret that some choose to play the gender card as a weapon when others disagree with them or attempt to enforce the mores of this thread.>

And I regret that you have chosen to see this in such a defensive way. My reaction to LindyBill's post was part of the discussion regarding GroupThink and something I sincerely felt. I've not had any problems with the few posts I've made on this thread, and have fully regarded differing opinions as a very heathy thing. So, I really don't mind if you disagree with me. You are fully entitled to your opinion. It wasn't my intention to play a "gender card," but more to convey the inhospitable nature of a thread that has become too close. I thought the post to open the discussion on GroupThink a promising sign for the health and integrity of the thread. I'm glad it has engendered a discussion, and I thank the posters who responded for voicing an opinion, even those I don't agree with.

It's not necessary to respond to this post, as I'm not seeking validation from the thread. I took an opportunity to voice an opinion that, judging from the number of pm's I received, is widely echoed behind closed doors. I did it because some posters on this thread provide excellent analysis and would benefit from an open dialogue. I would even like to see some more novice opinions, as they are often a great barometer for the thought processes of the average investor.

BTW, I'm not sure how Gemstar will play out as a Gorilla - I've read through much of the discussion, and even read the 10K link Mike Buckley provided. I find it a major faux pas that a company that wants to integrate the Internet and the TV has a website that's been "under construction" since June, 1996. I actually sold my shares when I made that discovery, and will not consider buying them back until they have established an internet presence.

Good luck with your process of evolution. It's a healthy thing!
