Mike and all:

I have also discussed this with Frank. I understand his distress this last month over the "Gender War" that has broken out on this thread.

I have told him that I think he has overreacted to the gender discussion, and asked him to stay. I hope he comes back.

I will continue to post here, and hope that everyone who is interested in pursuing our line of reasoning does also.

Mike,

Bummer!

<< join me in being forever indebted to Frank (and Lindy) for getting the thread started and for being a major force in bringing it to where it is today >>

I so join you!

<< It's my feeling that King Arthur's seat at the Round Table will be vacant until his buns return to warm it up again >>

Best his buns return.

It is sad when any diligent contributor decides to leave this thread. I was sad when Poet and Jill abandoned us. I am sad that Frank, our leader and co-founder has decided to leave. I encourage them all to return individually or in unison.

This thread has had more civil dialog even in the face of personal disagreements, than any thread that I am aware of. Frank's leaving is of greater consequence than any I have heard of. (No disrespect for Poet or Jill, but they were not in leadership positions and did not set the tone of this thread.)

I shall campaign privately for Frank's return.

Any degradation to the quality of this thread may cost me millions and the loss of a friend here is priceless.

>> Uncle Frank explained his reasons which I shall not divulge for starting a new G&K thread. His thinking is against my advice which shall also remain private.

Let's take the mystery out of this, Merlin.

I find playing the role of thread host less than rewarding at the moment, and it is clear that my thread leadership has become a divisive issue.

The new thread I've started is not in competition with g&k; it's designed on a small scale, and is intended as a meeting place for curmudgeons like me. There will be no tutorials, and no critiquing of anyone's approach to investing or life.
I apologize to Jill, Donna, and Poet for any grievances they might have against me, and invite them to re-join the thread and take leadership roles.

I will continue to read every post on the thread and will contribute if I can add something of value, but will not attempt to manage the thread. It's a time consuming, low paying job, and the psychic rewards have been unacceptable recently.

When we started the thread, my biggest ambitions were to see it become productive and self sustaining. Let's see if I was successful.

Best wishes to all my friends and threadmates,
Frank
