Kirk wrote italics...my comments in bold:

My question would be:
"Has Agilent sold off or shut down all the under
performing businesses?"

Maybe we can name them along with the dates they were
shut down and the revenue and income(loss) each generated.

Here is a small list from memory:

Business Date Closed Revenue Earnings

Disk Drive Business $500M? $0 (NOT Agilent)

Microprocessors 1998? -$200M?? (NOT Agilent)
->(loss leader to help Workstation biz look good)

Avantek/CMCD 1998 (Agilent but not significant)

I truly hope the stock goes to the moon since I will get XX,XXX shares as an HWP stockholder...however I think some folks are getting carried away comparing it to LU, etc. A should certainly improve their margins now that they are not subsidizing the computer side of HWP but the fundamental problem is still revenue growth. They are growing under 10% compounded over the past 4 years. IMHO that is NOT worth a P/E of 60.

**OT** Regarding posting in fixed format...
Use pre and /pre enclosed with <> to go in and out of fixed format. I can't type the actual syntax since the text editor interprets thinks that as a command.
