TSMC-Acer to Expand Production by 40 Pct. in 2000
November 30, 1999 (TOKYO) -- Taiwan's TSMC-Acer Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. (TSMC-Acer) aims to increase current production by 40 percent by the fourth quarter of 2000.

It plans to expand the current 30,000 wafers per month, if computed using 200mm wafers, at its "TA-1" plant to 43,000 wafers per month.

By product, the company aims to manufacture 10,000 DRAMs, 5,000 flash memories and 28,000 logic LSIs monthly. It intends to invest about 21 billion yen in the plan (about US$ 0.2 billion at 105 yen = US$1).

As for its other plant, "TA-2," it is planning to increase the current wafer production to 25,000 wafers per month by the fourth quarter of 2001.
