The release of 750MHz Athlon, 1 month after the 733 coppermine chip from Intel is having more publicity and impact on the stock than the original Athlon announcements. As I and a couple of posters pointed out on this thread when Coppermines were released that it would be better for AMD to release 750 part a month later or in Jan'00. One of the points made was that it would generate better headlines in the press. Here are some of the headlines I noticed from the press and web sites -

AMD to unveil faster PC chip - WSJ Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (NYSE:AMD - news) is set to unveil Monday a new Athlon microprocessor that runs at a faster speed than Intel Corp.'s latest Pentium III chip, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.

AMD to retake speed crown on Monday

AMD set to release 750-MHz Athlon MPU Advanced Micro Devices Inc. is turning up the heat in the microprocessor market with an earlier-than-expected rollout of its 750-MHz Athlon processors. The news comes as Intel Corp. is having difficulty meeting demand for its fastest Pentium III chips, which may be a factor in a new design win AMD has landed with Gateway Inc.

AMD Releases New Athlon, K2 Chips Advanced Micro Devices has released a 750-MHz Athlon microprocessor, as well as a 533-MHz version of itsolder K6-2 chip.
