You read the article, right? I think Anand's explanations are spot on: 1/3 speed L2 cache and SSE optimization. And I'm guessing you saw this article (usual Register caveats apply): theregister.co.uk "The day after Intel announced its Coppermine family, on the 25th of October, The Register saw internal documents from the chip giant which showed the extent of its problems supplying the parts. Although this position has improved in recent weeks, there are still serious problems with its high end Coppermine processor, the 733MHz Pentium III." -mb

RE <<Is this a quiet admission that Athlon wasn't the "fastest chip in all the land" before the 750 MHz
release?>>>

Did I post "THE FASTEST CHIP IN ALL THE LAND" between 10/25 and yesterday?

RE <<<By the way, how come the "fastest chip in all the land" still lags behind a "slower" Pentium III 733 MHz in Anand's gaming benchmarks?
