An unanswered posting has a rude and thoughtless feeling about it--especially lately on this thread, where it is being used as a statement, unfortunately. I've had very good results with Caviarteria, but I don't think that is what you had in mind. Most of the time with food, the recipients have been within driving distance and I made the stuff for the gift basket when I was too poor to give anything but my time--pomegranate sauce for ice cream; cranberry-orange muffins; real stollen; Wise Men cakes; bourbon balls; a homemade duck liver pâté, etc., so I never really checked out any of the e-mail-order places. I have heard very good things about Balducci's, but I can't speak from personal experience. There is a place in or near Hingham, MA, that has wonderful sausages and smoked foods and they do it on the premises. It's the real thing and they don't rely on stupid shortcuts. Racking my brains.... I can find out if that is the sort of thing you are searching.
