Sehr interessant. Of more importance, Christopher -- I personally commend to you and all "Feelies" the following as gifts worth giving this season -- to yourself!

Both available at Barnes and Noble for under $20.

"Home for Christmas" Anne Sophie von Otter. Deutsche Grammophon.

Some cuts on this CD almost too beautiful to listen to. First one moved me to tears wearing the 'phones in the middle of the friggin' store. Even better at home.
If light instead of sound, you would not be able to safely look directly at it. No doubt my enthusiasm will wane - I've only listened to it a half dozen times or so.

"If only you knew how much I smell you - True portraits of dogs" Valerie Shaff, photographs - Roy Blount Jr., text.

If you have ever had a dog "buddy", you must own this. I had no intention of buying the stupid thing when I started to skim the pages. HA! "Check out the misty-eyed geezer laughing his head off on aisle seven!" If you can look at these pictures and not buy this book, please send your address -- I will send you money for food.

Picture of beautiful black dog with far-away sad eyes --
"Gone to college,"
Is what they said.
To my knowledge,
That means he's dead.

Photo of mutt sticking tongue out through clenched teeth --
"Good dog"?
Oh, thanks so much,
Ms. Good Person.

Availability of these items on Christmas Eve ( when I normally shop) may be iffy.
