<<"Home for Christmas" Anne Sophie von Otter. Deutsche Grammophon.

Some cuts on this CD almost too beautiful to listen to. First one moved me to tears
wearing the 'phones in the middle of the friggin' store. Even better at home.
If light instead of sound, you would not be able to safely look directly at it. No doubt my
enthusiasm will wane - I've only listened to it a half dozen times or so.>>

I am not familiar with this artist. What kind of music is it?

M&M!! HALLOO! CHRISTMAS EMERGENCY! SOS! HELP!

I am referring to your recommendation of the Anne Sophie von Otter record. Now, I had never heard of von Otter (or so I thought), but your recommendation stuck in my head, for some reason.

And then it came to me! Or maybe it did...Some weeks ago, driving to the store, I tuned into one of the local classical music stations, and was immediately transfixed on hearing some ancient Norwegian (NOT Swedish) folk music, with extraordinary instruments and with an extraordinary woman singer. Later, when I got back in the car, the woman with the extraordinary voice was singing church music to the accompaniment of an extraordinary ORGAN!

Was that your von Otter? Huh, huh?? Anyway, I need to know ASAP!!
...because if that is the singer I heard, I am buying that record for my brother who lives in Seattle, and tomorrow is the last day I can buy it on line and have it delivered in time for Christmas!

So, please answer! <Stomp! Stomp! Sound of stamping feet!>

Joan

P.S. And as I just realized -- my sister-in-law is Swedish (real Swedish, not Swedish-American)! I hadn't even thought of that angle..
