I did extensive research on heterogenous vs homogeneous groups in the work place. The outcome showed that heterogenous groups are very good at coming up with powerful solutions. They are much more creative and competitive than homogeneous groups. Their weakness is that they lack cohesiveness as a group. The individuals have little loyalty to the group or its causes. On the other hand homogeneous groups are very loyal and may stick to the same effort for a lifetime, working very cohesively. Their weakness is that the individuals rarely go against what the group thinks even when it becomes unproductive or even negative. I think we have combinations of both in our culture.

Some good examples there. But I suspect Hollywood violence and our justice system contribute as much to the problem. Of course, I am not aware that a real study has been done on the problem.
