It'll likely get hit since the merger was rejected week or two ago. Plus MCI just preannounced poor Q4 (as expected) this morning.

Jim: Do you use the internet long distance over an ISP, or do you have a DSL line? I have tried it with my ISP and the results have not been favorable.

All of the LD carriers are implementing IP backbones. They saw the writing on the wall a long time ago and have been building out the data networks for some time. One example of how the LD carriers are looking to avoid local access charges is AT&T through their cable internet access.
