Yup, there are people out here.

Costco has recently rebounded from a drop to the 70's. These same-store sales figures are actually quite good compared to other months. This is just a little profit-taking and will subside fairly quickly I would guess. There was talk of a split several months back. At these levels it is a good possibility that a split will be announced soon.

I love shopping at Costco as shareholder, no place to park, long lines at check out, frantic employees, gotta love it.

JDN:

Here is a portion of a news story that is on the Yahoo! quote page ... looks like a typical buy on the expectation of good news and sell on the announcement of good news ... a game the big guys play (look at the vol. so far today). I like the stock and the future ... although I hope we as investors don't look to the Y2K thing to do much for the stock. I suspect that will have little bearing on the big picture of the stock price.

Aloha Mike ... I remember the Costco parking lot in Maui ... what gorgeous landscaping!! Hope you don't have the "parking lot squabbles" we are having here ... 45 degrees, winds at 10-20mph, and rain will affect ones attitude and where one wants to park <g>! (No JDN, this not an invitation to boast about the weather in Florida!)

Tuesday, I went to "our" Costco in Portland at 10 minutes before the opening bell ... I was shocked ... had to wait in a long line to get in and within 15 minutes the place was loaded with buyers ... and this was during the restricted hour!!!

Strong Sales Give Bullish Holiday Outlook

By William Borden

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Healthy Thanksgiving weekend sales are giving analysts optimism about the holiday season, though retail stocks dropped on Thursday after updated sales data came out, as investors had priced good news into the shares already and were taking profits.

Gap Inc. (NYSE:GPS - news), Costco Inc. (NasdaqNM:COST - news), Dayton Hudson (NYSE:DH - news), and TJX Cos Inc. (NYSE:TJX - news) shares were among the decliners.
