Whenever I have to answer a "race" question I always check "Other" and write in Human. Right now I'm fighting with the Census Bureau which wants to fine me for refusing to state my race and sex on their business census. I say it's none of their business, that the only reason they want the information is to discriminate, and I won't help them discriminate. So far its a tie -- they don't have the information and I'm neither in jail nor in court. But time will tell.

Maybe it is impossible to define race in a scientific manner, but in some places the law defines it. In Oklahoma they have the "one drop rule" regarding native people. If a person can prove any ancestry at all, no matter how remote, to an indigenous tribe, they are considered a part of that tribe, and due all perks and benefits that come with the designation.

There are a lot of blond-haired blue-eyed Indians around Oklahoma.
