If we follow the money regarding HDR, we can see why there will be companies who are concerned about the implementation of data and why we should expect more confusion and doubt to be spread. Expect high level industry concern regarding qcom's activity with HDR.

If the infrastructure required for HDR is a card swap and not complete infrastructure build-out then the cost to move to HDR would be a fraction compared to making a major infrastructure commitment. The option of a card swap allows operators to reap the benefits of high speed data without the risks associated with a major infrastructure build-out. Who will make these base station cards for HDR? hmmm. Why would other infrastructure players be concerned? hmmm. Who will make the asics for HDR? hmmm.

Speed to market, low cost implementation, allowing network operators to offer profitable services with balanced risks - Versus operators waiting...and waiting and then making a major investment in infrastructure commitment for a new service. Its no wonder there are many telco suppliers concerned about HDR. QCOM is in the driver seat (again).

Just think of your hand held device, your home computer or office computer, the synchronization of the data applications that will take place allowing people to go anywhere anytime and have immediate access to information. Network operators who are early adopters of qcom's HDR will be in the driver's seat. I wonder if AT&T will be able offer their customers to go anywhere anytime with a cable? Follow the money on high speed data - the road will lead to qcom. FWIT.
thanks

Greg: Then I guess the question is - will the Q supply the card essential for the base station to use HDR and the necessary software or will that be up to Ericsson or others? Would appreciate learning. Chaz
