<<I think we're in uncharted waters here.>>

The only thing to do then, is sail my friend. <gg>
I agree there are few if any stocks I feel as good about. Not ready to join the 1QQ% club but I think I've designed some nice artwork, don't you?
There have been times where I've been as much as 25% intQ Q but I'm just not comfortable at that level. Someone said,"Buy as much as sleep will allow". That's where I'm at.
I've not read the books that this thread ascribes to but I like the philosophy. There are industries and businesses within those industries that defy ordinary evaluation methods. They are valued by the imaginations of the minds carrying out the promise of the company.
One of my first and best teachers says to look for companies that are changing the way people live, work and play. I like some biotechs as well because they can determine WHETHER we live, work, and play.
I'm not very bright, but I know these are exciting times my friend, rates of change are boggling, and it's great to be mixing it up with the folks like yourself here on S.I.

<<[UF] never officially got back in the driver's seat however. I think we're in uncharted waters here.>>

Well, actually, I think you're wrong there, AM. Franq was always the host of the party, not its "designated driver," and he retired to his study at least partly because the guests seemed to be trashing the house. Then he came back out and tried to shout some guidelines above the din. Cf. post 11575: "Sorry for the intrusion, folks, but watching the direction this thread is taking is like watching one of my kids get into drugs." To spare him some trouble, thread regulars themselves should do their part in helping keep things focused, responding to newbies, and so forth.

In other words, the old charts are still perfectly serviceable. It's just that from now on there will be more people on the bridge sharing the watches.

I look at it in the following way. I've always suggested newbies should bone up by reading the entire thread archives. I still believe the early posts are worth it, but I wouldn't say the same for the more recent ones. Whether the next several thousand are worth remembering is up to us.
