Though I do not know what percentage of Nextwave is owned by Qualcomm, I am quite sure I remember that they wrote off $20 million in the 1998 tax year which was, I think, all of their investment in Nextwave. If the company comes out of bankruptcy I would imagine the Q would have a one time gain of $20mm just like they had a one time loss back then. And I would expect treatment of original investors would be part of the bankruptcy negotiations and each investor might get some form of debt/pfd convertible/or ownership shares in the reformed entity.

At the rate that QCOM is splitting their shares we won't see much per share by the time the whole situation gets resolved. (gg)

Re : HDR is great and clearly coming soon to a ... near you soon ...

Both my wife and I had the exact same response when we read a series of posts over on the (original) Qualcomm thread (as opposed to the "extra crispy" thread (?)) (a little U.S. - based humor, Maurice. You can ask one of us to explain it later ...)

Anyway, we thought the "tepid" responses from many in the industry were symptomatic of recognition that HDR is clearly the inevitable winner at some point in the future, but no one wants to "roll over" and say : "Okay, Qualcomm where should we mail our (blank) checks, made payable to the Qualcomm HDR Division ?"
