k--

We think that it's important for people to understand that power and electricity everywhere around the world are probably not going to go off immediately. If they have a problem internationally, it'll be a slow degradation of service.

Yeah, I get the part that it's highly unlikely that power will fail everywhere at once. But, I still think he's clueless...No black-outs--just a slow degradation of service???...I think they make this stuff up as they go along.

This accumulation of events we could normally handle one at a time.

He sounds good, but he is leaving plenty of room for major problems.

If everything goes to pot in a week or two he has his ass covered.

kholt,

Interesting transcript. One part in particular doesn't jive with my recent experiences. My drugist, who I've been using for the last ten years, told me (at my prodding)that I'd better by the limit of drugs (rare types included) allowed by my insurance company because he was beginning to see a run on prescriptions. Mr. K said there wasn't any sign of that type of thing. I think he's wrong on that one.

Peter :o)

CNN transcript of Senator Bennett interview:

cnn.com

It's pretty long. If you need motivation to read it through to the end, here's a teaser: ;)

HUNT: Bob, I thought it was remarkable that Bob Bennett gave such effusive praise to John Koskinen, the administration's Y2K czar. He's done so much in making sure that we are ready for January 1. And I'll tell you something, John Koskinen will tell you he couldn't have done it without the help of people like Bob Bennett. People like that.
