Steve,

Re: ...if HDR was achievable with the (simple?) insertion/addition of a card to the BS, and with MSM4500 and, down the road, MSM5500 chips, this is not likely to generate lots of warm fuzzy embraces from the infrastructure suppliers, NT, LU or even CSCO (where there is a space for the web routing) because there's not lots of large contracts to be won.

Indeed. And maybe even more scary for infrastructure suppliers is the potential to diminish or delay demand for 3G systems. After all, if HDR yields in excess of 2Mbps by just changing out cards in existing CDMA networks, why would carriers rush to convert systems to 3G? Why not just take the low risk step to HDR and wait for 4G before committing to any big capital outlays? Because of this, HDR may very well have a significant impact on the buildout rate of 3G.

Best, jack
