I still see you giving on-line shopping (and on-line investing?) a pass on this issue. A definite inconsistency.

It is not a question of greed always being good, but of respecting the right of people to dispose of their incomes as they see fit. I agree that it is disconcerting and unattractive to have a dying downtown. However, I would not impose a solution. I have seen many revitalized downtowns that depend on upscale restaurants and boutiques to attract shoppers. Sometimes, governments help out, and I personally do not object to a degree of "pump priming", but the main thrust should be finding the right mix of businesses to work in the particular situation.......
