When the .35 PII came out, it probably consumed too much power or was too hot for notebooks. Just like the .25 Athlon.

If you don't see a proper analogy of the current Athlon to the original PII you are obviously ignoring it.

Because they all came out on the .18 process. Athlon and PII came out on a process which had to be reduced for processor to become a mobile chip.
