Michael Kimmer, where the hell have you been? :)

GMST being a combination of enabler and app. (and probably more app than enabler) - this would suggest that it's better to get into GMST sooner than later. Or is this just another instance of group think?

It's hardly group think. There is only one person I'm aware of other than you who came to the conclusion that Gemstar's IPGs are part enabler and part app. You gave slightly different reasons that are so closely related to my reasons that the slight differences might be nothing more than a matter of semantics.

I say the Gem is an enabler because it brings the data to the viewer (unlike a spreadsheet which brings nothing to the viewer other than the format with which the viewer manipulates the data.) I say the Gem is also an app because it allows the end user to manipulate the data just as a spreadsheet does.

That is the reason I finally got around to buying last December (exactly two years and many huge gains after I presented the company to the Motley Fool readers) even though the product had and still has not enterred the tornado. I took a small position with the idea that its app technology was in the bowling alley. I did not take a full position because its enabling technology was (is) not yet in the tornado.

It made sense to me and so far that decision has proved to be a very lucky one.
