Cabletron's GlobalNetwork Technology Services Announces Support Plans for Millennium Transition Period
Offers Continuous Delivery of Global Service and Support to Customers
ROCHESTER, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 8, 1999--GlobalNetwork Technology Services, a division of Cabletron Systems (NYSE:CS - news), today unveiled its Millennium Transition Program as the final component of its global Year 2000 Contingency Support Plan. GlobalNetwork Technology Services (GNTS) will be leveraging its worldwide technical support resources and skills to provide continuous delivery of support over the millennium transition period.

``We are strategically deploying our global resources to make sure that we fulfill our responsibility and commitment to provide our customers and channel partners with the highest level of support services available in the industry,' said Earle Humphreys, Executive Vice President, GlobalNetwork Technology Services. ``Our dedicated staff of service professionals will be working throughout the holiday weekend, to ensure that each of our clients experiences a successful transition.'

Serving as the backbone of GNTS's support delivery over the transition period will be the three Global Technology Assistance Centers (GTACs) in Australia, Ireland, and Rochester, New Hampshire, USA. In addition to normal technical support staffing, ``War rooms' will be established at each of the GTACs and will be staffed from 9am on December 31st until midnight on January 3rd.

The GNTS Year 2000 Contingency Support Plan also includes other service and support functions, including field engineers, product support resources, service partners and development engineering personnel. GNTS and Cabletron personnel will be providing close monitoring services to ensure that customers with global operations receive a ``follow the sun' support service during this period.

In the event that a customer feels that it is necessary, On-site Support Engineers will be available to customers in the US during the Millennium Transition period. ``This On-site support offering will enable us to help ensure that our customers have the highest level of support for their mission critical network operations, without being affected by any possible communication or travel disruptions,' said Rick Meares, Vice President of WorldWide Professional Technology Services at Cabletron.

The Millennium Transition Program is the final piece in an ongoing program aimed at reducing Y2K risk. Prior components included Automated Network Discovery Services, Y2K Assessment Service, and Firmware Upgrade Services.
