Perhaps but the DOJ now has the power to define anything in such a narrow way that it becomes a "monopoly". AOL has a dominant share of the IM market. They will not allow competing products to interact with it. They are denying some consumers the ability to board the bus, much less just ride on the back of the bus...sounds like the interstate commerce act can be brought to bear against AOL as well.

All I'm saying is that once the lawyers are involved, logic and what you think really doesn't matter anymore. Many had a jolly time laughing at MSFT. I said within 10 years the government will knock on AOL's door. That day may come sooner than we would all like.

IMHO

Nat; I'm in agreement with you in the IM issue. The way I see it, AOL is welcoming competition in the IM market. Once someone steps into the ring, however, AOL is not pulling any punches by constantly upgrading their software. Surely, there is no law against improving one's product. Microsoft went for the gold, but after a couple of rounds, couldn't answer the bell.If this is considered a monopoly then we should all sue Mike Tyson for being so tough. If the government sticks it's nose in, this may very well end up in court one day.....and AOL will win, the lawyers will make a truckload of money and move on to their next pot-o-gold, and life will go on.
